# Credits and automatic payment

> Top up credits, add a payment method, turn on automatic payment and set your spending limits.

## Top up credits

In **Budget**, **Top up credits**: choose an amount or enter another one. The console tells you how long that amount gives you at the current rate. A promo code is applied before payment; the window shows the discount, the VAT and the total.

The amount is charged right away to your payment method. The invoice appears in **Invoices and statements**.

On your first top-up, you're asked for your billing details and a payment method along the way.

## Payment methods

Card or SEPA Direct Debit. You enter them with Stripe, Fransys's payment provider: Fransys never sees the numbers. Choose the **Default** method: it's the one automatic payment charges.

## Automatic payment

**Automatic payment at the end of the period**: anything beyond your credits is charged automatically, at the end of the period, to your default payment method. Your infrastructure is never shut down, even if a payment is late.

When it's off, only your credits pay for usage, and your infrastructure is shut down 2 hours before they run out. To turn it off when you've used more than your credits, first cover that amount.

## Spending limits

- **Monthly limit**: the total the period must not exceed. With automatic payment, your services stay online if it's exceeded; without it, they're shut down.
- **Maximum rate**: a monthly spending guide, indicative only. Fransys stops nothing when it's exceeded.

Beyond these, the maximums set by Fransys apply. To go higher, write to the team.
