# Your cloud account

> Run a cluster on your own account at the hosting provider: when it helps, the keys to provide, and what it changes on your bill.

Source: https://docs.fransys.cloud/en/clusters/compte-cloud/ Checked against the console on 2026-10-23.

## Why use your own account

By default, your clusters run on Fransys's accounts: the machines are billed by Fransys, from your credits. With your own account:
- the machines run on your account at the hosting provider, and the provider bills you for them;
- you get access to regions that require it. When you create a cluster, the console flags them with “requires your own account”.

Fransys installs and runs Kubernetes in exactly the same way.

## Add an account

In **Clusters**, **Your cloud accounts** section, click **Add an account**. Choose the hosting provider, give the account a name (for example `production-hetzner`), then the key:

| Hosting provider | What you need | Where to create it |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner | An API token, with read and write access | Hetzner Cloud › your project › Security › API tokens |
| Scaleway | An access key, a secret key and the project ID | Scaleway console › IAM › API keys; the ID in the project settings |
| Outscale | An access key and its secret key | Outscale Cockpit › Access Keys |

Click **Verify and add**. Fransys checks the key with the hosting provider before saving it. It's never shown again.

## Choose a cluster's account

When you create a cluster, the **Which account?** step appears as soon as you have an account with the chosen provider: **Fransys account** or **Your account**. You can also **Connect another account** without leaving cluster creation.

To change the account of an existing cluster, go through **Change the configuration**. The cluster is then redeployed with that configuration.

## Change the key

**Edit** the account, then **Replace the key**. Leave it blank to keep the current key. Fransys checks the new key before saving it; revoke the old one at the provider once the change is done.

## Delete the account

An account used by a cluster can't be deleted: delete or move the cluster first. Fransys then forgets the keys; nothing is deleted at the hosting provider. Remember to revoke the key there.
